People must realize that anti-depressants are being over prescribed by doctors.

Do other kinds of therapy and exercise, is in most of the cases the best solution.

Normally mild to soft depressions don’t need drug treatment so if you are undergoing one you should contact your doctor and gradually decrease the dosage.

Even if you go under drug treatment you shouldn’t continue it for more than 6 months after you start to feel better.

Other therapies to fight depression are:

Fresh food, contains a huge amount of morale-lifting nutrients. Increase the intake of fish oils like omega3.

Try to exercise in the open air or just go walking, expose yourself to the day light.

Go Herbal, take Hypericum.

Practice meditation.

There’s no straitforward cure, I quote fro the Times online:

Why can’t I just find a straightforward cure? Well, that’s life and depression is often part of it. About one in four of us will get clinically depressed at some time. The term “depression” covers a wide spectrum of distress and a huge variety of causes and effects. This makes treatment complicated. Often, though, depression will resolve itself within weeks, whether treated or not. The RCP says that without treatment, most depressions get better after about eight months. “
